Activities we offer at Spicy Villa Eco-Lodges:

  • We can take you hiking in the fields, which is a great way to learn about traditional farming methods. You might even have a chance to join the hill tribe people working on the rice paddies!
  • Lush jungles surrounding Spicy Villa Eco-Lodges are ideal for jungle treks. There are gorgeous waterfalls in the jungle and they are perfect to take a rest during the trek or go for a swim!
  • Traditional Karen villages in this area do not see many tourists, and by visiting them, you get a glimpse into everyday life of Karen hill tribe people.
  • You can visit a local elephant camp, where you get your own elephant and the elephant trainers will teach you how to ride it the way they do. You sit behind your elephant’s neck and ride it bareback. You also take your elephant to the river and give him a bath, which elephants love!
  • We can go to the river and raft on handmade bamboo rafts. This is a great way to enjoy the countryside as you slowly drift down the river!
  • River tubing is another fun and exiting water activity you can do.
  • You can take a cooking class and learn how to prepare traditional Thai dishes. If you have any favourite local dishes, ask us to teach you how to make them!

Reviews about activities and tours at Spicy Villa Eco-Lodges:

Below are excerpts from reviews our guests wrote on TripAdvisor, AirBnB and Google places.

This is one of the few socially and environmentally conscious tour companies I encountered in Thailand and Samart has done extensive research on sustainable tourism, so if you want to travel responsibly and learn a ton, you have to go on tour with Next Step Thailand!

Definitely off the beaten track, which is what we were after, not at all like any tours we have done before, this is how they should be done, back to basics, to get a better feel of Thailand.

Couldn’t recommend it more after having suffered through some of the other tours offered out of Chiang Mai. I was really worth every penny considering that the company supports sustainable travel, ethical treatment of the elephants we rode and bathed and also supports education in the remote Karen hill tribe villages. More than just an adventure, I felt glad to be able to support a company, which gives back to its community and is making the world a better place.

As we sit and review 204 photos taken over three days, my wife and I smile! Very hard to put into words how good our experience was, but the word awesome sums it up!

Best part of my trip by far! For anyone who wants to get away from the resorts and tourist crowds, this is the best place to get a genuine experience.

Tours from Chiang Mai city

If you’re looking for tours to other areas of northern Thailand either before or after your stay with us, we recommend our friends at Bluegecko who offer a variety of packages and share our views about environmental and social responsibilities of tour providers. Another bonus; they don’t offer elephant riding on any of their tours. Have a look here: Chiang Mai trekking no elephants.
